Introduction - What is it like being a Cosplayer?

Hola,My name is Ivan AKA Dekamexican. For me being a Cosplayer is leaving your normal life for maybe a couple hours or even a whole weekend and becoming someone you never thought you could be. Its being a Superhero, a Villain, a Creature or even a pikachu. its costume play, bringing a character to life!

What are your next goals?

i want to plan to focus on build more cosplays in the future and learning new things in my journey. One of my goals is land a job for Power Rangers as a stunt/suit actor. So lets see what the future holds

Cosplay Characters

Ive been many Power Rangers such MMPR Red,Green,White Zeo blue, Turbo blue, SPD Red and Mysitc Force Red. Ive been a couple Super heroes like My personal favorite Spider-Man, The Flash and Batman Beyond.

What does Cosplay mean to you?

Having fun! enjoying the characters you love or grew up with and becoming them in every aspect. Simple as that, living the dream of being someone you are not and having no shame maybe going a little crazy with it. But yeah just to have fun

Who have been your biggest influences/role models/mentors?

MY MOM!!! AKA my Dekamomma. she has supported me from the get go, with helping me with things and being by my side. even before i started cosplaying, she was never going to tell to stop acting like a Power Ranger or Spider-Man. heck she would actually join me. really one of my big influences,role models and mentors.

Do you have any advice or suggestions for upcoming Cosplayers?

i would just say.....Prepare Yourself. There fun times, bad times, and pain!! why you make ask? because of all the hot glue burns!! HAHA. But you love to dress up and like to meet new people who like the same thing as you. you'll definitely love culture phenomenon!

What is the most negative experience you've dealt with while cosplaying, and how did you handle it?

There was two people arguing about something, i cant really remember but they were about to throw fists and i just raced right up to them and was trying to calm both of them down and luckily nobody got hurt. oddly enough i was in my spidey suit so i was cracking jokes and making sure they didn't get kicked out of the con
