It's great! You get to be as creative as you want and pretend to be someone else for a little while.... You can still be a kid at heart <3
I'm actually into gaming and making geek themed shoes as well as cosplay. I'll be in the woman of gaming calendar of 2015, it should be done by Nov. Working on a secret cosplay for a contest (I hope I win) ;) I'd like to get into streaming horror games this winter as well.... AND TRAVEL TO MORE CONVENTIONS!
Dark Link, Mary Jane Watson, No face from spirited away, Bunny Hood Link from Legend of Zelda, Bulma from Dragon ball Z, Geralt from the witcher, Delsin Rowe
It's a nice change of pace from the stresses of everyday living. The people you meet cosplaying are always so nice and accepting, it's great to feel like a part of something when others appreciate it.
I have a lot of friends who do this. I don't know if it was one person in particular, but literally just everyone who's had the balls to put themselves out there and dress up! Positive feedback from people liking my work is another thing that influences me, they keep me going... Even if it was a handful of people, they're super supportive. Cosplayer wise? I'm a big fan of Eve Beauregard. I love everything she makes. She knows how to put just the right amount of sexiness into her cosplays without coming off too strong but still portraying herself as a confident lady, she's also super cool
Do what you love. Make sure you're doing this for yourself and not others, otherwise it can be stressful. Pardon the language... But go balls deep! The first time going to a convention dressed up can be a little nerve wracking, don't chicken out! Once you're there all of your anxieties will melt away, trust me! It's so much fun, and that's what cosplaying is really about, FUN! Don't forget that part!
I dressed up as a 'playboy bunny' but as a Link version with the bunny hood. I thought I had done a tasteful job, it looked cute. I wasn't uncomfortable wearing it and I didn't think it was overly revealing. I had a girl comment on one of pictures saying something like "it's shame pretty girls like you need to dress so slutty to gain attention and feel good about themselves, I feel sorry for you" She made a few other comments about auditioning for playboy and was frankly, down right rude! I wrote her back and said I was quite happy with my outfit, cosplay is about fun, which is what I was doing, having fun. I said I'm not sure why you felt the need to tell a total stranger this, but I hope my cosplay didn't completely ruin your day, BE HAPPY! :) She came off really anti feminist and judgy. Woman need to stop shaming other woman for exhibiting sexuality. We should be empowering and encouraging each other to do what we love. That's really the only thing I've had to deal with, everyone I've come across has been pretty respectful so far! I do have a zero tolerance for rude behavior on my Facebook page though. Anything I find degrading and rude gets deleted and the person gets banned. I don't need people like that being part of what I love, I don't personally know them, it's not going to hurt my feelings if they're deleted and we aren't friends :)
BE NICE TO EACH OTHER! We all deserve to live out our dreams :) ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE
