About Kaypay Cosplay

Introduction - What is it like being a Cosplayer?

Hi , i'm Kaypay ! This is my first year cosplaying and I also attended my first ComicCon as a cosplayer this year. I'm really new to the cosplaying world but i enjoy every bit of it :) Having people come up to you with a big smile and ask for a picture is always the best part. Being a shy person cosplaying is helping me open up to the world and meeting new people ! I think the community is really amazing and it fun to share ideas /questions and actual victory with each other. I'm all ready seeking new ideas for my next project ! I really hope I get to practice this hobby as many time and as many years as I can :)

What are your next goals?

My next goal is to attend Ottawa pop Expo this year and try to make a new costume for it. Also research new media for upcoming costume and meeting new people who cosplay around my area :)

Cosplay Characters

Officially I cosplayed as Link from Zelda The Wind Waker. But Ive also did a Ash Katchum costume and a Blood Elf worlock from World of Warcraft !

What does Cosplay mean to you?

Like ive said before , Cosplay helped me get out of my shell and be a social butterfly ! Cosplaying a cool character like Link really give me confidence :) But cosplay is also a form of art who lets you express your talent and the love of prop making. I know that all my hard work and my sleepless night payed of when I get positive feed back on my costume and when i see people smile when they see me :)

Who have been your biggest influences/role models/mentors?

Well I got into cosplay because of Jessica Nigri. I watch a video about SDCC about 3 year ago and really loved what I was seeing. Then i started doing some more research about cosplayers and ended up folllowing Yaya Han , Monika Lee , Kamui Cosplay and many more. But the one who started it all was Jessica.

Do you have any advice or suggestions for upcoming Cosplayers?

Well beeing a Cosplay noob myself it hard to give advice. But the one thing i could say is Cosplay is about FUN! Yes it hard work but so worth it in the end. Do it for yourself and not everyone else. Also lurn how to you GOOGLE :D

What is the most negative experience you've dealt with while cosplaying, and how did you handle it?

Telling people around me why I like cosplaying and why I do it. Explaining and telling them what you truly feel is the best way to handle it. IF they still think you are a freak... well move on !

Any final remarks or shout-outs?

Thank you !
