I'm a professional actor and writer, so cosplay has always been a natural extension of my love of performing and my love of fandom. But cosplay is a lot more freeing, in terms of being able to assume any character you want and interacting with people in a completely spontaneous, freeform way. I also like finding characters that have magnificent costumes to put on and live in, but are also a little more infrequently portrayed at conventions.

Honestly, the entire cosplay community. I'm inspired every time I see a costume I like.
Have fun, that's the most important thing. It always seems like there's a fear of not being appreciated in your costume but the second someone takes your picture or says "Nice outfit," it's all over. So just be proud of your work because someone likes it.
I have been pretty lucky so far, in that I haven't really had any negative experiences.
