About Punderful

Introduction - What is it like being a Cosplayer?

My name is Punderful! I am a Canadian cosplayer based in both the Toronto (GTA) and Durham Region. I have been cosplaying for a little while but just recently started posting my stuff online. I adore to cosplay since It allows me to become the characters I've fallen in love with. I've learned so many wonderful things through cosplay and I've met so many wonderful people! Making costumes is extremely fun and is always trail and error! Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get things right, but its about the strength you have to keep on going! Sometimes things get stressful but finally being able to wear that outfit you put so much work into is SO worth it!

What are your next goals?

Right now I want to try and push myself to work with Worbla! I really want to work on my craftsmanship and learn new things and techniques. I would also love to meet more cosplayers in my area!

Cosplay Characters

My first cosplay was Hinata from Naruto! This was way back in 2000! From there I have cosplayed: Princess Bubblegum (Adventure Time), Spy (Team Fortress 2) , Sniper (Team Fortress 2), Konata (Lucky Star), Tsumiki Mikan (Dangan Ronpa 2), Jinx (League Of Legends), and Ryuko ( Kill La Kill) ! Im sure there are many I am forgetting but those are my more recent cosplays!

What does Cosplay mean to you?

Cosplay has always been really important to me. I have made and bonded with a lot of my friends over cosplay! Its not just a hobby, it is a chance for you to become a living version of a character you love! Its about learning new things and expressing yourself. Cosplay is about having fun and being proud of yourself.

Who have been your biggest influences/role models/mentors?

It would be hard to just name one! I have been influenced by so many amazing cosplayers all over the globe. I am sometimes at awe when meeting amazing talented cosplayers at conventions or even just stumbling across an amazing cosplayers page! We all learn and grow from each other :).

Do you have any advice or suggestions for upcoming Cosplayers?

Confidence is key! It dosen't matter who or what you are cosplaying, go out there with an amazing attitude and rock it! Choose a character that you love and have an amazing time! Cosplay is most importantly about fun!

What is the most negative experience you've dealt with while cosplaying, and how did you handle it?

I've defiantly received criticism or been compared to another cosplayer who was dressed as the same thing. It can sometimes be hard to push though and can eat away at you. Everyone starts somewhere and you shouldn't ever be discouraged because of someone else. The most important thing is that you are out there doing something you love. I personally do not have perfect skin or the most perfect teeth but that wont ever stop me from this amazing hobby!

Any final remarks or shout-outs?

Thanks for the interview and survey! Best of luck to everyone working on a cosplay currently! :D
