My name is Shadowcoll and I have been cosplaying for about a few months surprisingly. Being a cosplayer is great. People stop you and talk to you about how awesome it looks or even people who are fans of the person or series your cosplaying. It's always nice having a conversation with people who have the same likes and appreciation on the series.
My next goal is to build a full armor from Monster Hunter and get my other costume ready for the next convention or two.
So far I have only done one cosplay. It is a Monster Hunter wearing the Yukumo armor from Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
Cosplay to me is showing your appreciation of a series by dressing up as the character that you can relate to or like the most. Your cosplay can at times reflect the person you are such as goofy, serious, or any others. Ultimately, it is actually the best way to get out of your shell and meet others.
The one person that helped me is a guy named Wondermoco. I met him through a friend of mine and we were having a conversation about an upcoming convention. He asked what I wanted to try out and told him Monster Hunter. He simply said, "Awesome. Go for it." That is all I needed for me to make my props and get my costume ready. Best 3 days of my life.
If you know which character you want to cosplay, go for it. let no one stop you simply because you don't look right for it, whether its physique or color. Though there may be one person who ruins it, there is a substantial amount people who will thank you, talk to you, and have a conversation about your cosplay. Plus, it's a good confidence booster.
So far, I have not experienced any negative moments, and I hope it doesn't (it might).
We are all in some form Macguyver making our cosplay from things we can get our hands on and it's simply amazing the end result we get. Last but not least, stay awesome.
