My cosplay name is Thread Witch and I have been cosplaying since 2009. I started making cosplays on my own around 2013. Being in cosplay is fun because I love having a reason to put on crazy clothes. Cosplay is a good conversation starter too!
My next goals are improving my overall craftsman ship. I have so many costumes I would like to make!
I like to do cosplay everything! Most of the characters I have cosplayed are anime characters. Now I want to make a lot of costumes after video game character designs.
Cosplay to me is like the best way for you to show love for fictional characters. When I decide on what costume I want to make next I pick characters I know and love. Cosplay is a great way to notice what you have in common with someone before you even speak to them. It's a great way to make friends.
I would have to say my biggest influence/roll model would be my Mom. She taught me the basics of sewing and that hard work does not go unnoticed. I also get inspired by cosplayers who do amazing jobs making their costumes. When I see something good it makes me want to improve myself.
My advise to upcoming cosplayers would be to take your mistakes and make them a learning experience. You will see improvement with every project you finish. Avoid negative people and keep doing what you love.
The most negative situations that I have experienced all happened on the internet. I used to get really upset and retaliate with negativity as well, but then I realized that one anonymous person should not be able to have so much influence on something I love doing. I now avoid the internet trolls and try to stay positive with myself.
Cosplay is an awesome hobby and you should try it at least one time!
