About Stephard

Introduction - What is it like being a Cosplayer?

I definitely find it to be a lot of fun. I do it more for Halloween more than anything but would love to have the opportunity to attend a convention as it always look jam packed with talented and passionate cosplayers! It is an incredible feeling to build you own costume from scratch and be someone completely different for a night. The comments you receive from creating the costume all buy yourself are totally worth the time and effort too! I would always choose creating my own costumes over buying anything out of a store any day!

What are your next goals?

As mentioned before I am working on a Star-Lord costume from Guardians of the Galaxy and would love to attend a convention in the future but for now it is all still just a fun hobby for me!

Cosplay Characters

I have been Jigsaw from the 'Saw' movies, a Splicer from Bioshock, Princess Mononoke, a Vox Populi from Bioshock Infinite and I currently have Star-Lord in the works for this year!

What does Cosplay mean to you?

It means creating your character and becoming that character. I love how you could transform yourself in to anything you can imagine if you invest enough time and effort

Who have been your biggest influences/role models/mentors?

I don't have any names in particular but a lot of the talented artists on DeviantArt have given me lots of inspiration over the year whenever I have been creating a costume. There are a ridiculous amount of incredible people on that site who are constantly producing amazing work.

Do you have any advice or suggestions for upcoming Cosplayers?

Do not be extremely critical with you work. Have fun with your costume and make sure that you have fun wearing it too! Make sure it represent the character you want to be and add your own flair and style where possible. That is what will make your costume stand out!

What is the most negative experience you've dealt with while cosplaying, and how did you handle it?

I honestly have never experienced anything negative on the back of my costumes. Some people sometimes do not know what I am dressed up as and I explain it to them but I guess I am lucky to have always had positive experiences whenever I am out in my costumes!
