About Sellexie

Introduction - What is it like being a Cosplayer?

Hey, I'm Sellexie of Sellexie Cosplay. Being a cosplayer is a very fun and adventurous side quest in my life that started just a little over a year ago, Inspired by the amazing MLZ studio videos that I came across on YouTube and Britthebadger's amazing Sejuani and Bristle cosplay displayed at Pax that year. Props were my issue so my uncle, (Aracnoi3d cosplay) makes my props for me, as I'm still learning the tricks and trade of EVA foam and worbla. Cosplaying has been something that I wanted to do for years, but it's a very costly and time consuming event that I did not know about until I set off on my quest of Officer Caitlyn. Making one of your favorite characters come to life is an amazing feeling. And even better is getting to be that person for the day and letting your inner nerd scream along with others that make you feel welcomed. I hope to see more people break their creative shell and cosplay on. (:

What are your next goals?

I have a secret cosplay that should be done before a certain game comes out. heh. Other then that my future cosplay list goes on and on. It's really all based on the affordability and the time I have.

Cosplay Characters

Officer Caitlyn (League of Legends), Daryl Dixon[Female version] (Walking Dead), Kitty Cat Katarina (League of Legends), Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), Pax Sivir (League of Legends), Hiro[Female version] (Big Hero 6).

What does Cosplay mean to you?

Cosplay is, as I stated, a side quest in my life that I finally gained the courage to try and I instantly fell in love with it. Cosplay is an escape from reality, where my inner nerd can come out and play with others. The photo shoots, the recognition, the people stopping and staring. It's all part of it and it means the world to me.

Who have been your biggest influences/role models/mentors?

Missyeru, Britthebadger, Lindsay Elyse, Byndo Ghek... the list goes on and on. I wish and hope to meet these wonderful ladies at a future con just to tell them how much they inspire me.

Do you have any advice or suggestions for upcoming Cosplayers?

Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. Do it. Do it for yourself. Do it for me.

What is the most negative experience you've dealt with while cosplaying, and how did you handle it?

With being a cosplayer comes trolls, and with trolls comes negativity. I'm not the most 'fit' girl, my boobs aren't the biggest, I have flaws. I am human. People will try to get you down and bash you about your looks and you just have to trudge on and ignore it because in reality I feel bad for them that they have to go out of their way to try to hurt some one else to feel better about themselves. I never wish that on anyone. I handle negativity by just blocking it out and focusing on the good. At times it might seem hard, but trust me it's worth it.

Any final remarks or shout-outs?
