Introduction - What is it like being a Cosplayer?

Hello! I'm Carly AKA Spacehamster! I am brand new to cosplaying but have been following it for a very long time. I can't describe the feeling I get when I'm a character from one of my favorite games/shows etc... It's wonderful to just have fun and take a break from my very normal life.

What are your next goals?

I am currently starting to make Orianna from League of Legends, based off a ballerina skin fan art! As well as Liliana of the Veil (MTG).

Cosplay Characters

I haven't done many but so far I have cosplayed as: Commander Shepard Kaalia of the vast Starbuck Silk Spectre. That being said Kaalia is the first one I have made by myself.

What does Cosplay mean to you?

It may sound silly but it means the world. Since I can remember I always felt cheated in a way and like I didn't belong on this planet. To live somewhere with no super heros, magic, elves, etc... is hard for me to understand. These are things that I will never get to experience but cosplay brings me one step closer to feeling like myself.

Who have been your biggest influences/role models/mentors?

Do you have any advice or suggestions for upcoming Cosplayers?

Be yourself and cosplay whatever you want. You will not regret it.

What is the most negative experience you've dealt with while cosplaying, and how did you handle it?

I honestly haven't really had many due to being so new to this but I've been called fat or obese a few times. It doesn't bother me at all though. If someone actually takes the time to write something like that they obviously have something going on in their life that is extremely negative and weighing them down. I'm sorry for whatever they are going through and just ignore whatever rude thing they posted.
